Coating of 8 Bridges Over the Don Valley Parkway (2022 – ongoing)

Detailed Design and Contract Administration

Doug Dixon & Associates (DDA) was retained by the City of Toronto to undertake the detailed design for the coating of eight (8) steel bridges over the Don Valley Parkway (DVP). All eight (8) bridges span over an urban expressway with four (4) bridges also spanning over the Metrolinx rail corridor and the Don River. During preliminary design, DDA completed a field investigation to determine the steel and coating condition. DDA prepared the pre-design reports to discuss the design considerations and constraints relating to the construction methodologies/staging, adjacent project conflicts, external stakeholder requirements, environmental impacts, and construction costs. DDA is currently in the detailed design stage and will be preparing tender packages for construction in 2023 and 2024. DDA will be providing Contract Administration services during construction.
