METROLINX HUMBER RIVER BRIDGE (2018)

SUPERSTRUCTURE REPLACEMENT, Bridge Evaluation

Doug Dixon and Associates Inc. (DDA) was part of a Team of Engineers working with Soncin Construction to provide engineering services for the rapid replacement of eight (8) spans of the Metrolinx railway bridge over the Humber River. DDA undertook the evaluation of the Humber River Bridge and three (3) other bridges for the safe passage of the loads to remove and deliver the new spans. DDA also evaluated the existing foundations and designed concrete corbels on the existing piers to support an overhead gantry. The gantry (designed by Western Mechanical) was supported from the concrete corbels while supporting the 500-ton ballasted spans.
